God sightings

Today was a blessed day full of so many little things where I felt God spoiling me.
1- this morning one of my students walks in with a shoebox to send to India, but has forgotten the $10 for the shipping cost. Soon, another student who has not heard this conversation comes up and hands me $10. I ask what it is for and he says that he couldn't make a shoebox, but brought $10 and wasn't really sure if it would help. What great planning God has as he uses the small bits we give to put together powerful gifts!

2- I read a story about the story of creation from the perspective of the angel Michael and the kids didn't want it to end. It is so fun seeing a child's heart for The Lord.

3- I got a message from my boyfriend full of words of affirmation that came at a very good time.

4- we had fun in writing today. This is my least favorite subject to teach. Today I had them free write and write about anything on their mind for about 10 minutes. Most of them did not want to stop writing. then, we shared laughter, and joy as we shared our writing.

5- During science, the students came to realizations I had not mentioned yet in my teaching. As they built solar ovens, some of the boys said, "Scientists double check to make sure they are right, so we should too." "Look, Miss Mejia, scientists take their time to make it right, and we are taking our time, too. " and "we made a mistake, but scientists learn from their mistakes, so that's what we are doing." Great to see students making authentic connections to real life.

6- enjoyed spending time with two wonderful women, discussing The Lord and His work in our lives.

7- One of my former students is celebrating her birthday this weekend. Her mom is buying me a ticket to go celebrate with them in Jakarta. I am so blessed to have the opportunity for God to use me in the lives of my students even when I no longer teach them.

It is days like today that remind me that I do enjoy teaching.

Oh! And one more... God has reminded me three times today of his promise to never leave or forget us. What an incredible truth!
